Presentations in the 8th: Debut Seoul’s 10 Soul and Zuhair Murad
by Barb on October 10, 2010
Last Monday, I was just a busy bee traveling from school to home, and then off to more presentations for Paris Fashion Week. I first headed on over to the Hôtel de Crillon at Place de la Concorde to check out Debut, Seoul’s 10 Soul presentation.
The ten top rising stars – the studio-k, PAUL&ALICE, JOHNNY HATES JAZZ, Leyii, jardin de chouette, IMSEONOC, KAAL E.SUKTAE, GENERAL IDEA, D.GNAK by KANG.D, and JEHEE SHEEN – in Seoul’s fashion industry presented their designs to a plethora of guests who clinked champagne glasses with one another and tasted the delicious hors d’oeuvres. Bold prints and patterns were the focus of many of the pieces, as well as flattering silhouettes to accentuate the body. The presentation was cleverly designed so that one could identify the designers by looking underneath the mannequin to find a cube with the designer’s name inscribed. But when it comes to after the event, it seems hard to recall who was who, even though the styles of each designer were incredibly different from one another.
Thereafter, I headed on to the IRFÉ presentation and then returned to the 8th arrondisement for the Zuhair Murad presentation at Pershing Hall. Far more intimate than the last presentation, live models were perched on elevated platforms in beautifully crafted dresses. In hues of aquamarine, blue, black, white, and pink, the dresses were adorned with crystals and embroidery. Tie-dye patterns were also introduced into the collection in long and flowing silhouettes to create a more casual summer day’s elegance.
